Connecticut is a U.S. State in southern New England, which has a combination of urban-rural areas and coastal cities splattered with small towns every few miles. Mystic is famous for its Seaport museum filled with ancient vessels, and the beluga whales at Mystic Aquarium & Museum. On Long Island Sound, the coastal city of New Haven is well known as the home of Yale University and its famed beluga whale exhibit. These are just a few of the top attractions in Connecticut.

New London is another popular tourist destination in Connecticut. It is known for its riverfront location and rich history. Here you can find the original Price House, one of the seven wonders of the world. There you can also go on a riverboat tour and enjoy the many cruises that run throughout the year. Here you will discover the most picturesque views of the Connecticut River.

Connecticut is the home to two national parks, so naturally, we can expect to find a lot of fun and exciting activities to do in these parks. In Bushkill Park, you can get away from the crowds of New York City and be able to enjoy mountain peaks, forests, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. At the Bear River State Park, you will get a chance to explore remote wilderness areas of Connecticut while still in touch with the modern world. This park also offers a host of other activities and amenities that will make your weekend even more enjoyable. You can hike, raft, canoe, or bike on the many trails in this scenic state park.

While at Bushkill Park, you will also want to visit the historic Wabash Street Theater and Cinerama at the nearby West End Center. Here you can relive the past while enjoying contemporary performances by local artists and bands. The theater is open most Friday’s through Sunday and features plays, musicals, movies, and other cultural experiences. Cinerama at the Bushkill Park theater is a great place to catch sight of the breathtaking falls state park that catches the light of the sunset each day.

Those who are interested in food and wine can check out several restaurants in the Connecticut shore towns of Greenwich Village and Stonington. If you are looking for a family friendly place to eat, then you should stop by the Lazy Meadow Inn at Broadway. This restaurant offers a fun outdoor dining as well indoor dining. The Inn offers top notch quality food with an extensive wine list that features some of the best Connecticut wineries.

If you love history, then you will love the New England Culinary Institute located in New England. The New England Culinary Institute is a part of the Wadsworth Atheneum museum. The museum features traditional cookery courses from some of the best chefs of the area along with short programs on everything you need to know about the foods and cultures of New England. The museum also has some very intriguing exhibits on the life of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and other notable New England leaders.

While you are in Connecticut, you will also want to check out some of the beautiful things that the state has to offer. Two great things that you should not miss when you are in Connecticut are the Connecticut Science Center in Stonington and the New Haven Aquarium in New Haven. The Science Center in Stonington is where you can find a number of interactive exhibits, while the New Haven aquarium is a great place to swim and interact with marine creatures. You will want to stop by the New Haven aquarium when you are in Connecticut, as it features marine biology programs, hands-on experience with sea animals, and education on how we care for our environment today.

Finally, don’t forget to make a stop in Old Saybrook while you are in Connecticut. Old Saybrook is a part of the Connecticut Heritage Grants in the State of Connecticut. This town is home to a variety of attractions including the historical Woolwich Plantation, the Thomas Kinkade House, Thomas Courteney’s Home, and more. No matter what your interests are while visiting New Haven or Connecticut, you are sure to find a great place to explore all that this state has to offer.
